Environmental Impact Assessment of Otakikpo Onshore Terminal and Subsea Pipeline Facilities Development at OML 11, Andoni LGA, Rivers State

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of an onshore terminal of about 1million barrel capacity scalable to 1.5million barrels, and 20km subsea export pipeline to the PLEM and SPM within the Otakikpo field located in OML 11 of the Niger Delta. Triple E was contracted to prepare an EIA report that meets the standard of relevant Nigerian regulators (Department of Petroleum Resources and Federal Ministry of Environment). Other relevant agencies considered in the EIA included, the World Bank, and other international donor agencies standards. The report assessed the potential Environmental and Social Impacts of the proposed onshore terminal and subsea pipeline with a view to recommending a fit for purpose and cost-effective mitigation measures to the negative impacts. The report also developed an Environmental and Social Management Plan that assign responsibilities for every stakeholder as well as evolving a monitoring programme for the implementation of this project.

To this end, Triple E was contracted to prepare an EIA report that meets the standard of relevant Nigerian regulators (Federal Ministry of Environment and Department of Petroleum Resources). Other relevant agencies considered in the EIA included, the World Bank, and other international donor agencies standards. The report assessed the potential Environmental and Social Impacts that the marginal field work over and new drilling operations will engender, with a view to recommending a fit for purpose and cost-effective mitigation measures to the negative impacts. The report also developed an Environmental and Social Management Plan that assign responsibilities for every stakeholder as well as evolving a monitoring programme for the implementation of this project.

Environmental Impact Assessment of Abuja BRT Project

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on the existing Abuja-Keffi road. The 35km BRT is proposed to take off from the Transport centre near the Eagle square through Nyanya, Maraba along the Abuja-Keffi express way to Tudun Wada opposite the Redeemed Camo ground, near Winners chapel (Goshen) in Nasarawa state. The project is expected to have about 27 modern bus stops and pedestrian bridges. The BRT will be located at the median of the existing road. Although the project is not expected to engender significant land acquisition on either sides of the road, additional lanes would be taken at both sides of the road to compensate for the extra lane (lay bye) for the BRT at each bus stop. Triple E was subcontracted by CPCS (lead consultant) to prepare an EIA report that meets the standard of relevant Nigerian regulators (African development bank and Federal Ministry of Environment). The report assessed the potential Environmental and Social Impacts of the proposed BRT with a view to recommending a fit for purpose and cost-effective mitigation measures to the negative impacts. The report also developed an Environmental and Social Management Plan that assign responsibilities for every stakeholder as well as evolving a monitoring programme for the implementation of this project.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of Emergency Rehabilitation works on Eleyele Dam

Brief Description and Scope of Work: As part of efforts to prevent further devastating floods in the city of Ibadan located in south western Nigeria and enhance the socio-economic well-being of the citizens, the Oyo State government through the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project (IUFMP) carried out an emergency rehabilitation works on Eleyele Dam and its appurtenant structures that were destroyed by a devastating flood that occurred in 2011. Such works include spillway, embankment, draw off tower, scour tunnel, and scour channel, reservoir and the approaching roads to the water works. The purpose of the ESIA was to identify potential and significant adverse environmental and social impacts and to propose means of mitigating them to acceptable levels. The ESIA will also consider the capacity of existing institutions to manage the predicted environmental and social issues and implement an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for this purpose.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of 138.4MW CCGT at OPIC Industrial Estate, Agbara, Ogun State

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of a natural gas fired power plant CCGT of 138.4 MegaWatts (MW) capacity (4X29.9MW) to be located at Agbara Industrial Estate, on 4 Hectares of land within the Ogun State Property Investment Corporation (OPIC) facilities at Agbara-Igbesa, in Ado-Odo Otta LGA, Ogun State, Nigeria. With several years of experience in the local and global energy industry, especially in the area of power generation and associated services, Tricon partners with other experts such as Sher Technologies LLC of Maryland, USA and ND Western Limited (gas supplier from its OML 34 Field) to implement this project. Triple E was therefore, contracted to prepare an EIA report that meets the standard of relevant Nigerian regulators (Federal Ministry of Environment and Department of Petroleum Resources). Other relevant agencies considered in the EIA included, the World Bank, and other international donor agencies standards. The report assessed the potential Environmental and Social Impacts that the proposed power plant will engender, with a view to recommending a fit for purpose and cost-effective mitigation measures to the negative impacts. The report also developed an Environmental and Social Management Plan that assign responsibilities for every stakeholder as well as evolving a monitoring programme for the implementation of this project. Upon completion, the power plant is expected to deliver electric power to Eko Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EKEDC), Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company PLC (IBEDC), and others through the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) transmission facilities proximal to the proposed location in Agbara, Ogun State.

Environmental Impact Assessment of 3.8-4MW Captive Power Project at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Lagos, Nigeria.

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of a 3.48MW- 4MW Captive Power Plant (CPP), in Idi-Araba, Lagos to generate electricity for use within its Premises. LUTH also envisioned to construct additional modules of CPP to a total capacity of 10 -15 MW. In view of the anticipated future expansion, LUTH appointed Triple E Systems Associates to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed power plant which will be located within LUTH complex in Idi - Araba Lagos, Nigeria. This study will access the aspects and impacts of the construction and operational stages on its neigbhouring activities and surrounding environment. This report provides an assessment of the potential impacts which the proposed power project may have on the social and natural environments. This is based on the findings from extensive literature review, field sampling activities, laboratory and bench data analyses, as well as a comprehensive socioeconomic and public consultations exercise.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of 350MW Gas Turbine Power Plant Project

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This was an Independent Power Project initiated by YEP, an Energy Provider Company in Nigeria. The company intended to install a 350MW Simple Cycle Gas turbine plant at Ofunene village near Ajaokuta in Ajaokuta LGA of Kogi State. The Independent Power Plant will be achieved through a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) venture.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of Itisi Hydro Power Dam in Kaduna State

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involves the construction of a 35m high hydro power dam at Itisi on Kaduna River. The objective of this project is to provide alternative and reliable power to the teaming residents of Kaduna state and by extension, the entire country. The project is also planned to assist in irrigation. To this end, Triple E was contracted to prepare an ESIA report that meets the standard of the World Bank, African Development Bank and other international donor agencies standards. The report assessed the potential Environmental and Social Impacts that the hydro dam construction project will engender, with a view to recommending a fit for purpose and cost-effective mitigation measures to the negative impacts. Environmental Impact Assessment for Akute Power Plant

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of a CNG Mother Station (CMS) at a location situated at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi-Apapa Express Way. The initial output capacity of the plant is 150,000SCMD with a plan to increase to 250,000SCMD at a discharge pressure of 225 – 250 barg. The CNG mother station (CMS) will feed tube trailers for re-distribution to prospective customers. Triple “E” was engaged to undertake the environmental impact assessment and prepare a comprehensive EIA report that formed the basis of receiving Environmental permits to construct and operate the station.

Environmental Impact Assessment for Alausa Power Plant

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of a 19.44MW power plant at Alausa, very close to Lagos state secretariat. The primary objective of this project is to provide steady and reliable power to Lagos state government. Environmental Impact Assessment for Lagos Island Power

Brief Description and Scope of Work: This project involved the construction of a 9.7MW power plant at Lagos Island. This is aimed at providing uninterrupted and steady power to major Lagos state outfits such as General hospital, High court, streets, etc required for the smooth day to day running of their respective businesses. Triple “E” was hired to undertake the environmental and social impact assessment and prepare a comprehensive EIA report required for the issuance of relevant Environmental permits to implement the plant.

Due Diligence Assessment of Power Generation at Selected Grid Connected Power Plants and Their Gas Supply Infrastructure in Nigeria

Brief Description and Scope of Work: The Due diligence study assessed and evaluated the short, medium- and long-term power generation capabilities of six grid connected power plants. It also established natural gas requirements for present and future generation scenarios for each of the power stations. The report also determined investment requirements for reliable power supply to the Nigerian grid in the immediate, medium and long term.
